Physical tags

An introduction to the physical tag concept named "Tag track".

Physical tags

Physical tags

Given the same challenge as described in the 2 concepts before, this one also focuses on the ability to identify clothing. In our case for Joe, identify the newest pieces of clothing. An idea that directly came to mind is working with a system to identify these pieces. This system can be seen as some sort of tag system. We could have one tag indicating that that item is the newest bought, or we could make different levels indicating all something different. These tags could be placed on the clothing or on the hanger for example. These places would both be sufficient as you both encounter them when dressing yourself in the morgen or for an event. What our participants preferred or sees as the best place ment could be talked about or co-designed further. Also the feel and sight of these tags would be something that needs to be taken into account. Can we see the tag? Can we feel the tag? Or how will the system work? are all questions we can ideate on further.

Interaction

Interaction

The interaction of this concept would be mostly based on touch and the ability to feel the difference between certain tags. As our participant is blind he needs to be able to fully by touch know the function of the tag and the tag itself. The steps that are needed for the tag, is to take it fist. Then open or prepare the attachment mechanism and then place it on the clothing. After that the tag stays on for some period and when that certain tag is not needed any more will most likely take it off and store it. This storage should be easy to use and within easy reach for Joe to make the use of the tag as effortless as possible.

Challenges

Challenges

The tags will of course have some challenges while designing. Some of the previous mentioned points as how will the system look like? where will the tag be placed? We will also face the mechanical challenge of how to attach and detach the tags the best way possible. Material and look will also play a challenge in the design of this concept, however all these challenges seem like reasonable aspects of the tag that we could work with.
